With Villa on the court, Vélez and Boca did not go beyond the tie in Argentine football

Boca Juniors had to settle for a 0-0 draw in their visit to Vélez Sarsfield, a result that still allows them to remain at the top of Zone 2, in one of the matches played this Saturday -April 9- for the ninth date of the League Cup of the first division of Argentine soccer.

In the José Amalfitani stadium, Boca had a performance from minor to major, since it was surpassed by Vélez in the first part, but in the second half it generated some occasions to keep the victory, although in his attacks he depended several times on the ability of Colombian Sebastián Villa, his main card for the imbalance.

Lucas Hoyos, the goalkeeper from Vélez, finished as a figure with a couple of crucial interventions, including a shot that saved the Peruvian Luis Advíncula and a one-on-one that covered Villa a few minutes from the end of an intense game, although also friction.

“We took a point on a difficult court, although we had several options. We are trying to raise (the level). We have different moments, I think we did a great job today, we needed to specify to keep the three points”, Villa highlighted after the match.

With this equality, Boca adds 16 points, the same amount as Tigre, who earlier tied 1-1 with Independiente, so both command Zone 2, but Estudiantes (15) can go to the front if they beat Central on Sunday Cordova of Santiago del Estero.

Other results of the day

In the first hour, Unión won again and moved up to second place in Zone 1 with a tight 1-0 victory over Newell’s with a goal by Gastón González (60, from a penalty).

In this match, the VAR had to warn the referee Fernando Rapallini that the match had ended one minute earlier than stipulated, so he had to summon the players to resume the actions and complete the remaining time.

In Córdoba, Defense and Justice gave Talleres a historic beating, whom they beat as a visitor by 5-1, in the worst defeat of the Cordobans in 19 years.
